Cummins Inc. needed a repeatable platform to test more than 60 engines, ranging from near zero emissions to diesel to natural gas. The company had already tried several hardware-in the-loop strategies to test a variety of MCUs in its flagship electric vehicle, the AEOS Truck, but needed a higher level of integration and flexibility to reduce test time, space and cost on a global scale.

Case Study: Electric Parking Brake HIL and Durability Testing Using CANalytics Software

Akebono Brake Corporation is a global supplier of foundation brakes and brake friction materials for automotive OEM customers such as Audi, Chrysler, General Motors, Honda, Toyota, and many more. One of the new technologies they are focused on is electric parking brakes, and they wanted to update their mid-height HIL system for testing ECU brake software.

Using NI LabVIEW and a real-time CompactDAQ (cDAQ) system, we worked with Akebono to deliver an upgraded hybrid HIL tester capableof mechanical brake simulation. We also created a new full-height tester for running 24/7 durability testing on three electric parking brake systems simultaneously.

Wineman Technology Full-Scale Aircraft Hydraulics Test Cell Featured in Fluid Power Journal

Wineman Technology helped an aerospace hydraulics component vendor to build a full-scale test stand using physical components and steel tubing. Using 3D CAD geometry files of the aircraft hydraulics design, the tubing was precisely bent and assembled to replicate the exact aircraft geometry and volume.

Wineman Technology Hub Test Rig Featured in Automotive Testing Technology International

A custom, state-of-the-art hub test stand developed by Wineman Technology was recently featured in Automotive Testing Technology International, and  OEM Off-Highway publications. We worked with GKN Wheels & Structures – a global company that provides products and services for agriculture, construction, mining, and other off-highway industries – to increase their hub and spindle fatigue testing capabilities. The goals of the new hub test equipment were to eliminate expensive field testing, develop lighter hub castings, and speed time-to-market.

WTI Adds New Sales Leadership

We are happy to announce that we have two new sales executives. Todd VanGilder has assumed the role of Vice President of Sales. For  the last 10 years, he served as Engineering Manager of Wineman Technology's Clarkston, MI, office, and has more than 25 years of experience in test and automation. He has been with WTI since 2007. Prior to WTI, Todd was the owner of GTech Automation, an NI Alliance Partner,  where he was responsible for all sales activity. Todd will focus on the day-to-day operations and organization of the sales department.

Wineman Technology CANalytics Platform Now on the LabVIEW Tools Network

We are happy to announce that Wineman Technology CANalytics software is now available on the NI LabVIEW Tools Network. The CANalytics platform provides an interface to maximize the benefits of CAN bus hardware, particularly for automotive and aerospace applications where it provides a durable network that supports communication between multiple electronic control units (ECUs). With the CANalytics LabVIEW API, engineers can save time and money by easily creating an interface to integrate with a LabVIEW application, rather than developing a completely custom GUI for every CAN application.
