Large-Scale Earthquake Simulation and Structural Test
Wineman Technology created a data acquisition and control system for control of the servo-hydraulics, data collection, and high-speed model execution in order to investigate the seismic behavior of large-scale structural components, structural sub assemblages, and super assemblages (systems). This system was created to develop and test a seismic-resistant family of self-centering (SC) steel frames with the potential to safely withstand the current accepted design basis earthquake (DBE) for buildings without damage. This data acquisition and control system is based on Wineman's INERTIATM test software and National Instruments' hardware, and the programming environment offers users complete customization of their control and data acquisition applications. INERTIA provides access to every system variable, control procedure and system process, allowing seamless interaction with large math models of seismic activity on a common hardware and software platform making it easy to conduct large-scale earthquake simulation and structural testing.
