Dynacar User Solutions

Dynacar has been successfully deployed in many projects involving vehicle design, simulation, and test. Below are a sample of user solutions in automotive manufacturing, component manufacturing, and research applications.

Company: GKN

Solution:
advanced e-drive laboratory: Engineers at GKN used Dynacar to define the optimum gear ratio on a unique electric powertrain gearbox. Once prototypes were available, the gearbox and driveshafts are being tested in their advanced e-drive labratory using using the Dynacar model embedded on a PXI controller. This includes simultaneous hardware-in-the-loop and human-in-the loop testing of the new electric powertrain.

Quote: "The Dynacar model, combined with our advanced test bench, allowed GKN Driveline to reduce development time, as we are now capable of testing the complete electric powertrain in multiple cases that deal not only with longitudinal but also lateral dynamics," says Jose Manuel Cubert, Head of Engineering at GKN Driveline's Zumaia plant.

Company: Inauxa

Solution: This Tier 1 supplier of axle components used Dynacar to design a patented steering rear axle for small Vans. Dynacar is also being used to develop active roll bars and other mechatronic components.

Quote: "Dynacar has been very useful for defining the existing forces when maneuvering, as well as the actuator controller strategy which is dependant of vehicle parameters such as vehicle speed and steering angle," says Rafael Teijeiro, Research and Development Manager at Inauxa.

Company: MASER Microelectronics

Solution: Inside the Hiriko Project which proposes new mobility on demand integral solutions for big cities: The Hiriko Driving Mobility project is aimed at making mobility on demand a reality in Spain. The name of the vehicle is Hiriko Fold, and it is capable of folding itself to save space when parking, as well as spinning in place for tight turns with the help of robotic wheels. MASER Microelectronics is responsible for developing and testing all the advanced vehicle electronics, and Dynacar was used for defining the steering, traction, and supervisory torque control of all the electric drives on the robotic wheels.

Quote: "The optimum torque and steering strategy developed for the Hiriko vehicle would have been much more difficult without the Dynacar tool." according to Carlos Iriondo, CEO of MASER Microelectronics.

Project: CITYELEC

Solution:
This urban transport electrification project runs from 2009-2012 with a budget of 19M Euro and over 30 partners. One of its objective is to develop a fleet of light electric vehicles and intrastructure elements. Dynacar was used in the development of the reduction gear, integrated inverter, and axial flow permanent magnet sinusoidal machine. Dynacar was also used for the identification of operation points for CITYELEC vehicles based on their driving cycles.
