The 9^th annual Automotive Testing Expo wrapped up this week in Novi, Michigan. 

We hope all our booth guests went home with more insight on how Wineman Technology’s hardware and software solutions can solve critical testing challenges across a spectrum of ground transportation applications, such as complete dynamometer test cells for engines and power trains, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) for electronic control modules, and custom test systems.

A few themes from Auto Test Expo 2011:

1. There is resurgence in the automotive sector, and everyone is busy from the manufacturers down through the supply chain.
2. Previously, manufacturers were using internal resources to do everything, but with the growing business, they are now focusing on their core expertise of developing products and are going back to externally hiring integrators to build their test systems.
3. Hybrid vehicle technology continues to generate a lot of buzz, especially on the design simulation side. Many attendees were amazed that we have a full-vehicle simulation product called Dynacar on the market that can go from model-in-the-loop (MIL) on the desktop to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) integration with the test cell to product test using the same software with 100% reuse.

Wineman Technology, an industry leader in dynamometer systems, servo-hydraulics, real time control and data acquisition systems, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems and custom testing machines for research and development, laboratory and production applications, had an open house on October 6, 2011 at our sales and engineering office in Raleigh, North Carolina.

On a beautiful sunny southern day, guests toured our facilities and shop area to see our latest products demonstrated including INERTIA™, Dynacar, and RAPID. They learned how to increase the value of test system investments from Jim Black of National Instruments, and discussed testing solutions with employees from our office in North Carolina and from our headquarters in Saginaw, Michigan. A North Carolina eastern-style BBQ was served.

Wineman Technology, the leader in providing the right technical solution for solving a wide range of test applications, had an Open House on September 22, 2011 at our headquarters in Saginaw, Michigan.

On this sunny fall day in mid-Michigan, over 100 guests toured our facilities and shop area to see our latest products demonstrated including INERTIA™, Dynacar, and RAPID. Guests also inspected Dynacar², the prototype sports vehicle from Tecnalia in Spain, built to validate the real-time vehicle model simulator. They learned how to increase the value of test system investments from Chris Washington of National Instruments, and talked to several vendors including National Instruments, ABB, and Kendall Electric. They feasted on delicious food, along with beer and and wine, catered by Jake’s Old City Grill, and our own Cabri created a cake featuring Dynacar².

Thanks to all those who showed up and helped us celebrate 20 successful years in business!

National Instruments Technical Symposiums (NITS) are a series of free, one-day events featuring technical sessions from NI experts, product demonstrations, and hands-on workshops. Hosted in 24 cities across North America, Wineman Technology will be exhibiting in five of these locations this year:

• Phoenix, AZ – November 17
• Knoxville, TN – December 8
• Denver, CO – December 8

1. Graphical System Design: Instead of talking about individual tools, National Instruments (NI) talked about using the graphical system design approach across their entire suite of products. This enables you to use one common software and hardware platform across the entire V model development cycle, from modeling and simulation to validation to deployment.
2. Embedded Devices: With the release of more and more low level tools, such as new Single-Board RIO products and other FPGA-enabled hardware, NI is rounding out their offering to get more of their products designed and embedded into end-user devices.
3. RF Technology:  With the recent acquisitions of Phase Matrix and AWR, NI is clearly investing more resources in the RF market segment, seeking to reach into higher frequency and performance capabilities with their PXI/PXIe platform.
